The Alexander Maxwell Grant Foundation established to assist artistically and musically gifted young people from troubled or disadvantaged backgrounds. Through the healing power of music, the Foundation will encourage the efforts of recipients to excel in their lives, and in turn apply their talents and knowledge to improve and enlighten the lives of others.
Founded in memory of Alexander Maxwell Grant, a pianist, a cellist, a philanthropist who died tragically at the age of 19, the AMG Foundation seeks to operate in a manner that furthers the deep philosophy and spirit of this dearly beloved young man who took seriously his Boston College motto, Light the World.
The Foundation will work with established social service organizations, universities and other public institutions to identify recipient targets. The Board will meet with individuals to establish compatibility with Foundation objectives, and provide the proper tools and support for that individual to achieve mutually defined personal goals. The Alexander Maxwell Grant Foundation intends to work closely with recipients and establish relationships to provide guidance, monitor progress and render appropriate forms of assistance as may be necessary.
